Situated in the North-East of Spain, between Rioja and Bordeaux, lies the stunning Propiedad de Arinzano, a protected area rich in natural habitat. The Senorio de Arinzano estate has been recognized for the excellence of its vineyards since the 11th century, when the noble Sancho Fortunones de Arinzano first produced wines on the property.
Today, the magnificent estate, designed by renowned Spanish architect Rafael Moneo, provides the inspiration for a new brand identity for the Arinzano Estate. It stands out based on the uniqueness of the terroir, its history, art and environment, and the exceptional potential to give life to wines that would be a reference of the highest quality and singular character. The most advanced and careful techniques are used to guarantee an artisanal treatment through the whole winemaking process, and we pursue a viticulture that not only respects, but actually favors the natural environment.
As a result, Arinzano is one of the few estates in all of Spain to be recognized with Pago status, and the first Pago in the North of Spain.

Laura Catena, great granddaughter of founder Nicola Catena, has created a Malbec blend with intense black fruit aromatics and the smooth, lengthy finish that has become the family’s trademark characteristic. Catena Malbec is sourced from the family’s high altitude vineyards in Maipu (20%), Lujan de Cuyo (10%), Tupungato (40%) and San Carlos (30%). From the marriage of these historic parcels emerges a wine of unique character that has natural balance, concentration and a distinct varietal identity.
Family vintners for over 100 years, the Catenas are recognized internationally for their pioneering role in high-altitude viticulture and in leading Argentina’s Malbec revolution.

Attractive and balanced, this has light tannins and fresh black currant fruitiness. Everything is in the right place, correct if not more. The aftertaste has a good, food-friendly acidity. Roger Voss
