Description
This wine comes from the Valle de Casablanca, situated near the Pacific Coast 80 km north west of Santiago. The ocean influence is very strong, helping to regulate the temperature. It is ideal country for white wine grape varieties, especially Sauvignon Blanc.
Baron Philippe de Rothschild Maipo Chile’s winemakers have chosen the Valle de Casablanca vineyards for their mild climate, which allows the grapes to ripen slowly, and for their soil: silty sand, which favors the refinement and freshness of the fruit, and granitic soil closer to the coastal mountains, which brings elegance. The wines are fresh and mineral, while keeping a certain power and a remarkable balance between alcohol and acidity.
Varietal Composition: 100% Sauvignon Blanc
Tasting Notes: The nose opens on powerful citrus fruit aromas, followed on airing by delicate notes of white blossom and tropical fruit. The refined and fresh attack reveals subtle notes of white blossom and guava, leading into an intense and dense midpalate marked by an explosion of citrus fruit flavors recalling the aromas found on the nose. White blossom flavors return on the elegantly mineral finish.
Color: a beautiful, glittering pale yellow with a greenish tint.
Nose: intense, powerful and highly aromatic, the nose opens on notes of white blossom and blackcurrant bud before developing citrus peel and tropical fruit aromas.
Palate: the attack is succulent, fresh and elegant, while the crisp mid-palate explodes with flavour, dominated by white peach, grapefruit and passion fruit. The long, expressive and very mineral finish reflects a selection of the best “valle de casablanca” terroirs.
